Why skincare is a self-love act

Self-love is a state of enjoyment and affection for oneself that increases from actions that strengthen our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. You have to love yourself first! When we act in ways that expand self-love in us, we begin to embrace our weaknesses, as well as our strengths. This means we stop being too hard on ourselves and understand we are all here for a bigger purpose, which is learning and evolving every day as human beings.

There is a lot of different ways we can enhance self-love. Meditation, yoga, exercising, journaling… Basically everything that deepens the connection with our heart, our feelings and desires. I like to say that self-love is almost like a muscle that you have to work out often to build up and reach its fullest potential.

Our daily rituals are a really good way to demonstrate self-love, starting by our skincare routine. Your skin is your largest organ and everything you apply on your skin will be absorbed really quickly and will circulate on your body. That’s why clean beauty is so important. You can eat organic and healthy food all you want but if you don’t watch out for your cosmetics you are making a big mistake.

Choose products with ingredients that are natural and cruelty-free. Your skin will be nourished from the inside out and you know that you are not applying any chemicals or harmful ingredients. That’s a big deal. Use your skincare routine as a ritual to enhance love for yourself, your life and the people around you. Because you have to love yourself first in order to love someone else.
